Halcyon Lake 2021-03-11T13:55:23+00:00

Halcyon lake was first dug in 2008, and matured incredibly quickly. It is smaller than the lakes one and two, but just as exciting. The Lake was originally designed as a match lake but its use was changed to a pleasure lake in 2015. The old match lake was reshaped into The ‘Halcyon’. The new shape is packed with new features and only retained the best parts of the old match lake. The lake is stocked mostly with carp to 16lb averaging about 3-4lb. The other species stocked are tench (green and golden), barbel, chub and ide. All species are growing very quickly in this lake. This lake is very popular especially throughout summer when the carp are in full feed mode, float fishing is quite effective also, just be ready for some hard fights! Heavy weights in short spaces of time are common, and now with the added ide and chub this water can produce some exciting full days of action.

TIP: As fish as closer to you in this lake, it pays to keep extra quiet, this includes vibrations.

Interesting Information: This lake offers the best chance to catch golden tench. Also if it is raining, there is a very good chance of catching barbel here through the summer months. The pegs at the far end of the lake are generally always nicely sheltered from any wind.
There is a very good chance of catching barbel here too, they can put up an awesome fight, some have been caught over 5lb and they are still growing quickly. The pegs at the far end of this lake are generally always nicely sheltered from any wind on any day.

Features: 7 islands, various reed beds, deep water holes in central locations. Flat plateaus surround the main central island. Most pegs have a steady slope away from the platform and shallow swims either side of the peg. Most closer Islands are surrounded by a 3ft deep by 2.5ft wide ledge which drops away to 5ft, this then steadily increases up to the angler.

This lake is ideally suited to most methods of fishing.

Aeration has been added to Halcyon recently to provide extra oxygen in summer months and help clear ice in winter months. So far it has worked well and fishing has certainly improved!
